La Cie Arts Nomades
Disciplines
Born in 2003 under the initiative of France Everard, a visual artist, and Andreas Christou, an actor, the Arts Nomades Company became an associate company of Eden, the Regional Cultural Center of Charleroi, in 2010. Here, among other things, it developed "Plein la Rue" and "Les Soupes de Madame Espérances", two artistic projects designed to connect with the population, between the neighborhoods of the same city.
These projects led Arts Nomades towards the development of a contemporary fairground theater, notably with the Fra.K. Infusion performance, created in 2011, combining painting and electroacoustic music, which took the Company even further towards multidisciplinary creation.
Arts Nomades worked for more than two years with the Pim's collective, a group of 'Poetry in Motion' performers born from a meeting of Belgian and foreign actors around the work of the Scotsman Ian Smith and his Mischief Là-Bas Company, invited in July 2011 by the CIFAS to La Bellone (see the workshop video: http://vimeo.com/36763960).
The Pim's actively participated in the creation of the participatory device around childhood nonsense: La Chasse aux Bêtises, a creation welcomed in several festivals in Belgium (Chassepierre, Chiny, Ath, Brussels...) and abroad (Luxembourg, France, and soon Quebec).
The Arts Nomades Company has a dimension that largely exceeds its borders while relying on a work of infusion of the territory. Based in Bois-de-Lessines, it has been developing a cultural anchorage in Walloon Picardy for several years, and is also strongly involved in the defense of a culture for all through itinerancy, theater and visual arts, with several artist gatherings and the organization of meetings of itinerant theaters in collaboration with the CITI (International Center for Itinerant Theaters). The specificity of the Arts Nomades Company to mix theater, music and visual arts marks a clear identity.
