Elsa Chêne, a French director, lives and works in Brussels. Fascinated by the connections between the body, the mind and memories, she explores how our personal and collective memories distort our most familiar surroundings. In 2019, she presented her performance MUR/MER (2nd prize from the jury of Danse élargie 2018, organised by the Théâtre de la Ville, the Musée de la Danse and the Fondation Hermès) at the Théâtre des Abbesses and the Centre-Wallonie-Bruxelles in Paris, as well as at Sadler’s Wells in London.
Following this project, she is directing Coeur Karaoké by Victor Rachet (Théâtre Varia, Mons Arts de la Scène, March 2022) and Orphans by British playwright Dennis Kelly (Théâtre Varia, April 2022). She is currently working on a new project, Limit to your care, a production inspired by the phenomenon of Love Dolls (life-size dolls that some men in Japan use as companions).
