MODO GROSSO
Disciplines
Modo Grosso Company was born in 2015 from the encounter between Alexis Rouvre and Tiziano Lavoratornovi. One a circus artist, the other a dancer, they combine their desires and experiences to experiment with the body in motion. They use it as a fundamental vector to transmit their follies and fantasies. Nourished by this encounter, Alexis and Tiziano guide their creations towards new artistic territories, they wish to highlight a form of living expression that is not confined to a genre or a place. They seek to make dance, circus, visual arts and video coexist in forms that borrow from street arts its popular aspect.
In 2015, they co-directed with Nina Cholet the short film "Legami" as part of the "Broncante" festival in Italy. In July 2016, during a laboratory residency at La Roche qui Boit Lake, they create plastic installations as a theater for choreographic action and collaborate with Nina Cholet and Déborah Colucci to create video objects mixing in-situ choreography and music.
With its first creation "Laisse!" in 2017, the Modo Grosso Company takes its first steps on the cobblestones and presents a danced and acrobatic show supported by a strong and disturbing theme. The two artists wear the collar with serious derision and draw you into their universe where feelings intertwine.
In 2019 "Entre-cordes" was born. The musician Déborah Colucci composes for the harp a modern and virtuoso repertoire. She improvises and explores with her instrument rich and varied sounds. Alexis Rouvre, a physical artist, juggler of balls and especially manipulator of ropes, develops a juggling in motion, an instinctive and elegant gesture. These two string players create a show presenting uncommon disciplines. They wish to achieve balance, simplicity and the generosity of a duo concert.
