Elodie Doñaque

Disciplines

Élodie Doñaque, dancer & choreographer, defines the circus as her artistic cradle.

Between 1997 & 2004, she explores the static trapeze & dedicates herself to putting the aerial body in motion to invent a suspended dance. She develops a unique work, breaking the aesthetics & the static aspect. She approaches the aerial body with animality, fluidity & musicality. Her choreographic work is simple & seeks the truth of the moment. She searches for the raw body, without artifices. She composes with the ephemeral, draws abstract tableaux made of body movements & sounds.

A student at the Centre des arts du Cirque du Lido in Toulouse, she then works as a trapeze artist between 1999 & 2005. In 2009, desiring to establish a dialogue between the Circus & Dance, she co-founded with Anna Buhr, the Cardage choreographic circus, within which she has developed her personal work in various projects & moving & sound installation.

Since 2013, she has been conducting experimental work on the Dance & Music relationship which she has been able to develop during numerous collaborations with visual artists, singers & during her encounters with various choreographers where she was able to experiment among other things, traditional Cameroonian dance. She regularly conducts seminars on aerial movement within various schools & structures & often lends her external gaze to other companies.
