Dame de Pic

Artistic Director of Dame de Pic, chore, choreographer and performer, Karine Ponties is the author of more than fifty pieces including  Mirliflor (Golden Mask 2011 for the best contemporary dance show in Russia) Every Direction Is North (Golden Mask 2017 for the best contemporary dance show in Russia) and Same Same (Special Mention from the international jury of the Czech Dance Platform 2019, in the Czech Republic). Her award-winning collaborations with visual artist Thierry Van Hasselt (Brutalis received the 2002 SACD Belgium choreographic creation prize and Holeulone received the 2007 prize for the best dance show from the French Community of Belgium) highlight the interdisciplinary aspect of the company.  

She creates a chiseled and meticulous language where humor, monstrosity, and pure intensity respond to each other, drawn from the organic uniqueness of the performers and their absolute necessity of movement. The choreographic translation of this raw material serves as a bridge to a textured universe, blending animation, drawing, music, always based on close and solid collaborations.
